Akyaka is a lovely and picturesque beach resort situated in a wonderful bay on the Gulf of Gokova. Akyaka is situated about 71 km. from Dalaman airport and 31,2 km. from central Marmaris. Being an old fisherman village, Akyaka has steadily grown to accommodate holidaymakers, but has somehow still kept it’s relaxed and charming atmosphere of the lovely village it once was. It has a superb location nestled in between rolling pine forested hills and mountains, crystal clear waters like an aquarium, excellent beaches and the unique Ula architecture showcasing extraordinary roof features at the Akyaka houses. Akyaka also hosts one of the best forest campsites in Turkey.
Situated along the coast of one of the best beaches in Turkey, the idyllic village of Akyaka has a very impressive panorama with the forest area, hills, the stunning landscape along the Gulf of Gokova and the beautiful Azmak River. The sea has all variations of the blue colour. The hills behind Akyaka are covered with pine trees. Akyaka is also the member of the International Slow City Association (Cittaslow) since 2010.
